Leona Zimmerman

Leona Zimmerman was born June 25, 1922 in Stately Township, Brown County, Minnesota to Herman and Louise (Essig) Brown. She was united in marriage to Herb Zimmerman on June 16, 1943 at Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn. Leona was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid and enjoyed gardening, raising roses, and playing Pinochle. She crocheted several afghans which were then donated to the Native Americans. She is survived by her children- Gary Zimmerman of Sleepy Eye and special friend Charlene McCann of Mankato, James Zimmerman of Sanborn, and Janice Schmidt of Long Beach, WA; grandchildren- James Schmidt of Long Beach, WA , and Joy Schmidt and Jennifer Schmidt of Delft; step-grandson Brett Anderson of Eagle Lake; great-grandchildren- Justin Jensen of Bergen, Miranda Jensen of Windom, and Dakota Vinberg of Delft; great-great-grandson Drake Hall of Windom; and sister Susie Yeazel of Monticello. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Herb in 2001; daughter-in-law Sharon; and siblings- Arlene, Betty, Leonard, Raymond and Orville.
