Leona Dick

Leona Dick was born July 31, 1925, in Carson Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota to Jacob E. and Helena (Dick) Loewen on the family farm with her twin sister Freida. She attended Mountain Lake country school District 80 and graduated from Mountain Lake High School in 1943. Leona then attended Minneapolis Business College and graduated in 1945. She was united in marriage to David P. Dick on June 28, 1946, at Gospel Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake. The couple lived in Minneapolis where Leona worked for Curtis Carlson. They moved to Mountain Lake in 1948 where she worked for the Farmer's State Bank. They moved to Windom in 1955 then returned to Mountain Lake in 1970 where Leona started her career at the Mountain Lake Clinic. She worked as the office manager for 18 years and retired in 1987. Leona was a member of Alliance Missionary Church where she served on several committees and enjoyed traveling, swimming and golfing. Leona Dick died Thursday, May 24, 2018, at GracePointe Crossing in Cambridge, MN at the age of 92. She is survived by sons- Dr. Stan and wife Sally Dick of Big Lake, and Pastor Kevin and wife Peggy Dick of Fennimore, WI; grandchildren- Carter Dick of Minneapolis, Remy (Cory) Berning of Big Lake, and Bradley Dick of Fennimore, WI; great-grandchildren- Beckett Berning, Loralyn Berning, and Remy's child on the way; and sister Laura Saeger. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband David P. in 2004; sisters- Alma, Freida, Marie, Linda, and 2 in infancy; and brothers- Harry, Jake, and Abram.
