Leo Windschitl

September 28, 1927 — March 11, 2006

Leo was born in Mulligan Township on September 28, 1927 the son of Florian and Anna (Moldan) Windschitl. Leo attended school in District #46 in Mulligan Township and then graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1947. Leo worked on the family farm for a few years and then enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1950. After his discharge, Leo attended Dunwoody Institute and then worked as an Assessor, and also did mechanical and electrical work, as wells as umpired for local baseball leagues. After his health declined, Leo moved to the Sunwood Care Center in 2001. Leo was a member of the Japanese Martyrs Church in Leavenworth. He enjoyed wood working, metal working and playing the guitar. Leo is survived by his brothers, Herb and wife Bernetta Windschitl of Cold Spring, MN, Pete and wife Lois Windschitl of Comfrey, sister Marie and husband Mel Cook of Comfrey, MN, sister-in-law, Marlene Windschitl of Sleepy Eye, aunts Lillian Windschitl of Comfrey and Rose Windschitl of Leavenworth, and 34 nieces and nephews. Leo was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Leonard and wife Delores, and Gilbert.
