Leo Roman Klotz

Leo Roman Klotz was born in New Ulm, MN on August 20, 1942 to Art and Hedvig Margaret (Palmquist) Klotz. He attended St. John's Lutheran School in Sleepy Eye through the 8th grade and graduated from Sleepy Eye Public High School in 1960. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. Leo was united in marriage to Daun Alt on November 3, 1962 at the Little Brown Church in The Vale in Nashua, Iowa. Leo worked at various jobs throughout his lifetime, road construction, truck body manufacturing, glass cutting, trailer house construction, Artstone, house construction and remodeling, furniture construction, tree planting/stump removal, MRCI workshop supervisor. He was especially proud of his furniture construction, including the solid walnut gun cabinet with stain glass windows, which was his favorite. He went to school at Hutchinson Vo-Tec for Metallurgy in his later years. His final job was working in the Brown County Engineering Department as a surveyor and inspector. He enjoyed reading, history, snowmobiling and motorcycling, hunting, shooting of trap, silhouette and target practice. He loved going south to Yuma, AZ for the full winters from 2004-2019, where he made many coffee and neighbor friends. He loved his family-grandchildren overnight visits and seeing his great granddaughters. He is survived by wife of 59 years, Daun (Alt) Klotz, daughter, Linda Klotz, son, Tod (Lori) Klotz, sisters, Carol Jordan, Lois (Roger) Hull, sister-in-law, Donna (Earl) Spencer, grandchildren, Amanda (Damon) Hunter, Samantha (Jesus) Saenz, Ben Klotz, great granddaughters, Elsie, Claire, Amaya Saenz, nieces, Kim (Eric) Engelby, Danielle (Danny) Ecker, grand niece, Reva Ecker and nephew, Brian Spencer. He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, Richard Alt, Mary Alt and Charlotte Alt, brothers-in-law, Robert Leiferman, Mike Jordan, grandparents, Carl and Anna Palmquist and Charles and Minnie Klotz, uncles and aunts, Roman (Irma) Schroer, Herman (Olga) Klotz, Otto (Sally) Klotz, Elnora (Alfred) Nunn, Estella (Fred) Toltzman, Einor Palmquist, Sven Palmquist and many cousins.
