Lenora Anna Wieler, daughter of C. J. and Anna (Janzen) Funk was born on August 23, 1918 in Butterfield, MN. She received her education in Butterfield graduating in 1936. She was baptized upon confession of her faith on May 31, 1936 at the Bethel Mennonite Church in Mountain Lake, MN, where she remained an active lifelong member. On October 7, 1936, Lenora was united in marriage to Paul Wieler at the Bethel Mennonite Church. The couple made their home and farmed together east of Mountain Lake. Together they moved to Mountain Lake in August of 1987. Paul passed away on September 20, 1996. Lenora remained living independently in her home until June 1, 2010 when she moved into the Good Samaritan Home in Mountain Lake. Lenora loved sporting events and music. She was a gifted musician with a beautiful alto voice. She accompanied the Bethel male choir on the Bethel Church pipe organ in addition to playing for church services and playing the piano for small groups. She played weekly for the Rotary Club and for sing-a-longs at the Good Samaritan Home while Paul was the song leader. Lenora and Paul sang duets for many church events and sang in a quartet for many funerals. She played for chapel services at the Eventide weekly as well. Lenora also played the organ for many weddings in the community. Lenora was a senior club member and was on the program committee where she would play piano for the meetings. Lenora taught Sunday School at Bethel or served as Sunday School Superintendent from 1936 to 1996. She was a faithful member of the Worship and Sew Society serving in many capacities as well as playing the piano for the meetings and truly enjoyed sewing quilts for the MCC sales. Her family and friends reaped the bounties of her beautiful crocheting abilities. They also enjoyed her baked goodies that she willingly shared. Lenora enjoyed the outdoors always working side by side with Paul maintaining beautiful gardens and trimmed lawns. She enjoyed family vacations near Nisswa, slow boat rides with Jim, and Cannon Beach, Oregon. Lenora's sense of humor and deep faith sustained her through Paul's death and the need for her to move away from her home. She loved her Jesus, her beloved Bethel Church, praying and reading the Bible and loved greatly her family and friends. Lenora is survived by her two daughters, Jerilyn Wieler and Jill Trussell of Cottage Grove, Minnesota; two grand boys, Brian (Kristi) Trussell of Eagan, Minnesota and Benjamin Trussell of Cottage Grove, Minnesota, one great granddaughter, Anika Trussell of Eagan, Minnesota, many nephews, nieces, relatives, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Dorothy Wieler in infancy; son-in-law Jim Trussell, one sister and brother-in-law, Alvina and Elmer Sawatzky, one brother and sister-in-law, Alrow and Phyllis Funk.
