Lena Dehne

Lena Maria Dehne was born on July 13, 1917 in Jolly, Iowa, the daughter of Wilhelm and Johanna (Deling) Hoffrogge. She moved with her family to Johnsville Township in 1918 and then to North Hero Township in 1920. She was united in marriage to Wilbert Dehne on March 18, 1937 in Walnut Grove. Following marriage the couple worked for a short time at a dairy farm near Marshall and also farmed in North Hero Township, near Revere, staying there for 37 years. The couple retired to Revere in 1971 and moved into Lamberton in 1995. The attended Revere Lutheran Church until it''s closing, after which they attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Johnsonville Township, until moving into Lamberton when they became members at Our Savior''s Lutheran Church. Lena served on Ladies Aid board as President several years, President and teacher of Sunday School, and served as Chaplain of the Revere Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed dancing, quilting - making several quilts for missions, flower gardening - especially roses, playing cards and board games, puzzles, and watching baseball. Lena died on Friday, November 23, 2012 at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Springfield at the age of 95 years. She is survived by her children - Elaine Schneider of Jeffers, Jean (Dennis) Newman of Eagan, Ruth Ann (Greg) Fordham of Grand Rapids and Marvin (Marlene) Dehne of Montevideo; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; sisters - Marie Fleshner of Tracy, Minnie (Glen) Kronback of Lamberton, and Margaret (Spencer) Fleshner of Phoenix, AZ; and brothers-in-law - Melvin Dehne and LuVerne Carlson. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband - Wilbert in June of 2003; a granddaughter; a son-in-law - Richard Schneider; brothers - William, Remmer, Herman, and Henry, and John; sisters - Anna Petersen, Helka Gunder, and Alfrieda Carlson; and a brother and sister in infancy.
