Lee Mccabe

Lee Alan McCabe age 67, of Madelia, MN, died on January 7, 2024, at Madelia Health - Hospital after a brief, furious battle with cancer.


Visitation will be on Sunday, January 14, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the St. Mary's Catholic School, Madelia with Prayer Service at 7:30 pm.


Visitation will continue on Monday from 9:30 am until 10:30 am at the St. Mary's Catholic School, Madelia.


Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Madelia, on Monday, January 15, 2024 at 10:30 am.


The clergy will be Fr. Timothy Hall. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Madelia.


Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Madelia, Minnesota.


Lee Alan McCabe was born on August 17, 1956 in Madelia, MN to Carrol “Lefty” and Adeline (Osborne) McCabe. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Madelia before graduating from Madelia High School in 1974. Lee began his career at Feder Plumbing & Heating in November 1977 serving as an HVAC technician, mechanical contractor, and ultimately part-owner until his retirement from Feder Mechanical in 2022. Lee married Mary Angeline Hoffmann on November 24, 1979 in New Ulm, MN and they settled in Madelia raising their three children. Lee was an active member of St. Mary’s Church and throughout Madelia, volunteering and serving on many committees through his church and the community at-large. In his spare time, Lee loved cooking, gardening, traveling, baseball, golfing, and above all, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren.

Lee is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary McCabe; daughter, Jacqui McCabe (special friend Stephen Cantwell); sons, Joshua (Tiffany) McCabe and Samuel McCabe; grandsons, Tristan, Morgan, and Tate McCabe; sisters, Barbara Grefe, Lynn (Cal) Steele, and Jeanne (James) Nelson; brothers, Steven (Irene), Michael (Terese), Terrence (Judy), and Kelly McCabe; mother-in-law, Della Hoffmann; brothers-in-law, Max Hoffmann and Patrick (Sarah Riemann) Hoffmann; along with many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Lee is preceded in death by his parents, Carrol and Adeline McCabe; brother, William McCabe; and father-in-law, Donald Hoffmann.
