Lavon Waterman

LaVon Ellen Waterman was born in Sanborn, MN on March 13, 1918 to George and Elva (Leopold) Hensch. LaVon was baptized and confirmed at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sanborn, MN. She graduated from Sanborn High School and received her Teachers Certificate from Mankato Teachers College in 1937. LaVon taught Elementary School for 3 years. On June 27, 1940 she married Lloyd G. Waterman at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sanborn. The couple lived in Sanborn for 26 years, Lamberton for 31 years and in the Austin area since 1997. LaVon loved gardening, quilting, puzzles, reading, and playing any type of card game with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Christ Our Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mankato, MN. LaVon died on Friday, October 1, 2010 at Prairie Manor in Blooming Prairie, MN age the age of 92 years. She is survived by her sons - William L. (Mavis) Waterman of Corpus Christi, TX, Steven G. Waterman of Mathis, TX, and daughter - Jean (Leon) Hellickson of Albert Lea, MN; daughter-in-law - Linda Waterman of Bloomington, MN; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a great great grandson; sisters-in-law - Serena Hensch, Carol Marcotte, and Doris Waterman; uncle - Ervin Hensch; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband - Lloyd; son - John Waterman; daughter-in-law - Penny Waterman; and brothers - Leland Hensch and Melford Hensch.
