Larry Warnemunde

Larry Wendell Warnemunde was born on January 22, 1938, at Tekamah, NE, the son of Wendell Myrle (Nelson) Warnemunde. The family moved to Minnesota when Larry was a young child. He attended school in LaSalle and St. James receiving his GED in the military. He served in the Air Force and was stationed at Travis AFB in California. In 1959, he was united in marriage to Marcheta Hendricksen, the couple made their home west of St. James until her death in 1989. In October 1990, Larry was united in marriage to Patricia Whitehead and they made their home on the family farm west of town. Larry was a great horseman and started his passion at an early age. He always had horses until his health began to fail in 2010 and could no longer care for them. He favored the Arabian breed and received many trophies and ribbons for showing them at fairs and horse shows. His other passion was his orange tractors, Allis Chalmers. He collected many over the years. He and friends would often attend auctions and Larry would be seen driving his little VW pickup to coffee with the boys. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Larry is survived by his wife; Patricia of St. James, daughter; Vickie (Doug) Scheibel of Olivia, step-son; Lon (Kathy) Whitehead of Mankato, sisters; Joan (Dale) Ottum of St. James, Sharon Lohmeyer of Austin, TX, Wendy (Jerry) Clark of Austin, TX, Jane (Bob) Johnson of Owatonna, grandchildren; Naomi (Jason)Hyerdall of Chicago, IL, Melanie (Tyler) Bettin of Des Moines, IA, Lindsey Scheibel of Waterloo, IA, T.J. Scheibel of Moorehead, step-grandchild; Samuel Whitehead of Mankato, great-granddaughters; Samantha Sikora of Chicago, Daviny Scheibel of Moorehead, aunt; Lila Mathias of St. James, many nieces, nephews and a special dog, Gretta. He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife; Marcheta and sister; Janet Pankratz.
