Larry Alan Larson was born on April 12, 1942, in Tyler, MN, the son of Leonard and Margaret (Kragness) Larson. He was baptized and confirmed at Ellsborough Lutheran Church in rural Balaton, MN. He graduated from high school in Ruthton, MN in 1960 and graduated from General Beadles Teachers College in Madison, SD. He was united in marriage to Mary Nelson in 1963 and had 2 children, Robin and Lance. Larry was married to Trudy Hofmann in 1975 and had 2 children, Jeremy and Krista. He taught school in Clinton, MN, Marietta, MN, and Sanborn, MN before working in sales for Fox Brothers and Wabasso Products. Larry coached basketball in Clinton, Marietta, Sanborn and Wabasso. His 1997 Wabasso team was State Runner-up when they beat Red Lake in overtime 117-113. This game has since been voted best game in MSHSL history. Larry also worked as the Golf Course Superintendent at Farmers Golf and Health Club in Sanborn for many years. Larry was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Wabasso, MN and served on the City Council and EDA in Wabasso for many years. He enjoyed golfing, tinkering in his shop and watching Springfield Tigers Basketball games along with spending time with family and friends. Larry died on Sunday, March 31, 2019, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield, MN. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Trudy Larson; children - Robin (Terry) Roiger of Sanborn, MN, Lance (Sheila) Larson of Springfield, MN, Krista (Tyler) Sitzmann of Le Mars, IA; 6 grandchildren - Josh Roiger, Jaime Schumacher, Jared Roiger, Jena Roiger, Logan Sitzmann and Kamryn Sitzmann; 8 great grandchildren - Carley, Reid, Hudson and Rhett Roiger, Colin and Reagan Schumacher, and Tate and Baby Roiger; siblings - Audrey Ostermeier, Barbara Pennington, Jean Gotfredson, and Luther 'Bud' Larson; He was preceded in death by his parents; son - Jeremy Larson; a brother - Leo 'Bill' Larson; and sisters - Marilyn Erickson and Margery Andresen.
