LaNette Marie (Haas) Braun, 90, of Sleepy Eye, died, September 14, 2025, at her daughter's home in Saint James

A private family service will take place at a later date with interment at Saint Mary's Cemetery in Sleepy Eye. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.

LaNette was born on June 22, 1935, to Frieda (Schroepfer) and Henry (Hank) Haas. She was one of six Haas kids. LaNette loved working at the Haas Bakery where her dad was co-owner with his brother Joe Haas. She also worked at the Sleepy Eye Hospital as a nurse's aide. She attended Saint Mary's Catholic School and was a cheerleader for the Saint Mary's Knights all her high school years.

LaNette met Dennis Braun at the tender age of 16. They were married at 9am on Monday August 30th, 1954, at Saint Mary's Church and they had the 1st wedding at the Orchard Inn in Sleepy Eye where they served a noon meal as well as an evening meal. They took a two-week honeymoon to the Black Hills of South Dakota. Together they raised three children, Steve, Dean and Colleen on a farm East of Sleepy Eye.

LaNette loved to fly with her husband in the Tri Pacer or go snowmobiling in the woods. She was a farmer's wife through and through. She cooked, cleaned, canned, butchered chickens, drove tractors, walked bean fields, baled hay and when they were done with the farm work they would head to Carl's Corner or Meyers bar for date night. And if it was really a special occasion, they went to the Kaiserhoff in New Ulm. LaNette was famous for her Essig Kraut and Dumplings, Apple Pie and her Fried Chicken. She was the main cook for the Annual Braun Porkchop and Turtle Feed on the farm. There were many gatherings she hosted for family and friends. She had a very close relationship with all her brothers and an especially long friendship with Arlene (Pelzel) Tauer from early grade school to today. She loved all her sisters and brothers-in-law. LaNette was a simple woman who never asked for much.

LaNette loved her children, their spouses and significant others and all her grandchildren, great grandchildren and even a new great-great grandchild. LaNette was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dennis Braun; and her son, Dean Braun.

LaNette is survived by her brother, Rich Haas; her eldest son, Steve Braun and Lynette (Helget) Braun; and her only daughter, Colleen Braun Goeritz and Thomas Goeritz; daughter-in-law, Sherri Braun; nine grandchildren, Scott (Ann), Kevin (Annie), Brian, Jason, Melissa (Cory), Ashley, Stephanie, Stacyk (Dain), and Bradley (Angel); her great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her sisters-in-law, Jen Berberich, Lois Braun, Sylvia Braun, Darlene Haas and Yvonne Haas.
