Ladonna Jenkins

LaDonna Jenkins, 88, of St. James, Minnesota died on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at the hospital in Mitchell, South Dakota as a result of a ruptured abdominal aneurysm. LaDonna Caroline Grunig was born on December 28, 1921 in Aurelia, Cherokee County, Iowa to Jacob and Ethel (Guether) Grunig. She moved to Minnesota as a child and graduated from Butterfield High School in 1940. On February 16, 1941 she was united in marriage with Ronald Jenkins at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Butterfield where she was a member until her death. They made their home on the farm in Adrian Township where they raised their family. They farmed and fed cattle and hogs for 63 years before retiring. LaDonna enjoyed reading, quilting, gardening and traveling. She and Ron were charter members of the St. James farmer's market and worked at the Butterfield Threshing Bee. She was an active member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church and belonged to several clubs. She was an avid quilter and she and Ron made quilts for all of their daughters, grandchildren and many of the great grandchildren. Survivors include four daughters and their husbands, Jerri Jenkins and Tom Morgan of St. Louis Park, MN; Jean Kintzi of Sheridan, WY; Julie Jenkins and Harry Greenwell of New Albin, IA; and Jayne Jenkins and Bill Gorman of Laramie, WY; grandchildren Kelly Rae Kintzi of Billings, MT; Travis Morgan of Orlando, FL; Tanya and Davide Raso of Maple Grove, MN; Richard and Laura Kintzi of Sheridan, WY; Josh and Theresa Smith of Winona, MN; and Eva Smith of Rochester, MN; great grandchildren, Logan and Jerica Smith of Winona, MN; Luca and Elena Raso of Maple Grove, MN; Katelynn and Zachary Kintzi of Sheridan, WY; and Calvin Smith-Vanderstoep of Rochester, MN; two brothers, one sister and one sister-in-law; a number of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. LaDonna was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; parents; a brother-in-law and a sister-in-law. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
