La Vonne 'Tiny' Eckstein

LaVonne Rose Haecherl, lovingly known as Tiny, was born in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota on March 6, 1942, the daughter of Archie and Lorraine (Helget) Haecherl. Tiny grew up in the Essig area and attended school at St. Mary's Catholic School. After graduating from high school she moved to Hutchinson where she worked at 3M for several years. On September 4, 1967 Tiny was united in marriage to Robert Eckstein in Sleepy Eye. The couple made their home in Sleepy Eye for a short time before moving to the Godahl area where Tiny was a stay at home mom and did child care out of her home for many years. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, loved to spend time visiting with friends, cared for and loved her dogs. She loved spending time with her daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter and other family. Tiny Eckstein passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital In Rochester, MN. She is survived by her daughter Carla (JR) Steinbrink of St. James, granddaughter Chelsey Steinbrink (Tucker Style) of Mankato, sister Carol (Maurice) Gent of St. Cloud, niece/nephews Tim Gent, Brian Gent, Crystal Ibberson and her dogs Bella and Lily. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert, and parents Archie and Lorrain Haecherl.
