He was born on November 22, 1922, in Kennard, NE to Wallace and Gladys (Krum) Widener. Ken spent his boyhood in the Winner, SD area and in 1938 moved on a farm near Holland, MN. He graduated from Ruthton High School in 1941. On November 17, 1944, he married Arlene Sudenga at the Presbyterian Church in Holland, MN. Ken and Arlene were a loving couple for 69 years. He entered the Army in January of 1945, serving two years in the South Pacific. Upon returning from the Service, they farmed for seven years near Holland, MN. In 1955, they moved to Lamberton, MN, where they owned and operated the Gamble Hardware Store and Ken's Softwater Service. He later went into sales for 4x4 Feed and Menard Agri Building, still retaining the Softwater business in retirement in 1982. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, American Legion, and the Lions Club. He enjoyed woodworking in his shop, the outdoors, fishing, visiting his children and grandchildren, traveling, and their winters in Texas and Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter - Linda. He is survived by his wife - Arlene, brothers - Duane (Nancy) of Sun Lakes, AZ, Roger and a sister - Dolly Madsen of OK; sons - Randall (Noni Sazaki) of Cashmere, WA, Rodney (Shellie) of Golden, CO, and David of Minneapolis; daughter - Darla (Scot Tostengard) of Couer d Alene, ID; grandchildren - Sarah, Bradley, and Janie; along with many relatives and friends.
