Kenneth Weedman

February 1, 1917 — November 8, 2006

Kenneth Loren Weedman was born February 1, 1917, in Revere, MN, the son of Loran and Hattie (Schumacher) Weedman. He was united in marriage to Gertrude Rosenau on November 6, 1942, at the Zion Lutheran Parsonage in Sanborn. Kenneth was inducted into the U.S. Army-Air Force in May of 1942 and served with the 64th Fighter Squadron in the European, African, and Middle Eastern Theaters during World War II. Following his honorable discharge in 1945, the couple farmed southwest of Springfield for 5 years, then near Sanborn for 5 years before moving to Amiret where they farmed for 20 years. They then purchased an acreage west of Walnut Grove where Kenneth worked for the Tracy elevator until retirement. The couple moved to Springfield in December of 2005. He was a former member of the Tracy Lutheran Church and a current member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Kenneth was a lifetime member of the American Legion and loved raising horses and fishing. He also enjoyed playing cards, wood-working, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Kenneth L. Weedman died Wednesday, November 8, 2006, at St. John's Lutheran Home in Springfield at the age of 89 years. Survivors include wife- Gertrude of Springfield; son- Duane and wife Bev of Marshall, MN; daughter- Diane and husband Grant Lade of Springfield; grandchildren- Troy Lade, Jason Lade, Shannon Sammons, Michelle Marotzke, Amber Greeley, Heidi Weedman, Dustin Weedman, and Amanda Weedman; sister- Mary Ann (Percy) Hansen of Hutchinson; sisters-in-law- Noreen Weedman of Sanborn, and Lorna Weedman of Clements; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers- Clifford, Lowell and Lyle; sisters- Vivian Ewald and Marjorie Johnson; sister-in-law- Snookie Weedman; and brothers-in-law- Marlin Ewald and Einer Johnson.
