Kenneth Richert

Kenneth Charles Richert was born on July 19, 1937 to Robert and Rose (Riebl) Richert in Springfield, MN. He attended and graduated from Springfield Public School. On December 5, 1959, Ken was united in marriage to Ellen Colburn at St. John Lutheran Church in Springfield. Ken was a lifelong farmer and seed dealer for Jacques Seed Company. From 1983 to 2000 Kenny owned Firestone and from 1986 to 2015 he owned and operated Richert Bus Service. He attempted to expand his business empire with other creative business ventures in Springfield. Kenny was a member of the American Legion and was a 4-H leader. He enjoyed bowling, playing Santa, gardening, tours of the farm in the skidloader, woodworking, evening fires, and camping. He was known for his great sense of humor. He is survived by his son James (Carol) Richert of Comfrey; daughters – Lauri (Tim) Johnston of St. Charles, Katie (Chris) Romnes of Hayward, WI, and Molly (Jason) Schuneman of Coon Rapids; grandchildren – Megan, Taylor, Paige, Hunter, Tommy, Mackenzie; and great grandchildren Ellie and Milo; sister Avona Bielen; brother Roland (Lenore) Richert; sisters-in-law Joan Richert and Carol (Roger) Kemp; brothers-in-law Andy (Jeanette) Colburn and Lyle Bestland; and nieces and nephews. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents; wife Ellen in 1995; and brothers Donny and Bob. Visitation 1 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm Sunday, March 17, 2019 Springfield Area Community Center 33 S.
