Kenneth 'Pat' Adrian Butler was born February 23, 1920, in Johnsonville Township, Redwood County, the son of Robert and Anna (Hecker) Butler. He graduated from Lamberton High School in 1938 and then attended Dunwoody Industrial Institute where he received a degree in Drafting. Pat entered the U.S. Army in 1942 and served with the 1st Cavalry Division in the Leyte and Luzon Campaigns in the Philippines. He was discharged in 1945 with a Bronze Star and returned to the Lamberton area. Pat was united in marriage to Vernetta 'Sue' Kolander on November 2, 1948, at Sharon Lutheran Church in Lamberton. He owned and operated a Pool Hall until 1951 and then worked in Rapid City in drafting. Pat then worked as a sales representative for Rock Spring Beverage in Shakopee for 18 years, and later for the Schell Brewery in New Ulm for 7 years. In 1977 they owned the B-Drive In for 4 years before Pat became interim manager at the Lamberton Municipal Liquor Store. He then worked at the Vesta Liquor Store for 7 years before retirement. Pat was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and Andrew Peterson American Legion Post #41. He enjoyed gardening and was well-known for his tomato juice, liked playing bridge and solitaire, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Kenneth 'Pat' Butler died Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at the Springfield Medical Center at the age of 85 years. Survivors include wife- Sue of Lamberton; daughters- Judy Ary of Moorhead, and Patty and husband Mike Peterreins of Tracy; son- Robert and wife Kristi Butler of Revere; grandchildren- Chad and wife Sara Steinhauser of Phoenix, AZ, Leah and husband Charles Aichele of Colorado Springs, CO, Jared Peterreins of Sioux Falls, SD, Jon and wife Amber Peterreins of Sioux Falls, SD, Daniel Butler of New Market, MN, Jacob Peterreins of Madison, SD and Laura Butler of Revere; great grandchildren- Ryan and Megan Steinhauser, and Caylan and Maia Aichele; sister- Mickie and husband Harris Rogers of Virginia Beach, VA; nephew- Robert and wife Dianne Morse of Norfolk, VA; and sons-in-law- Chuck Steinhauser of Colorado Springs, CO and Tom Ary of Fargo, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents.
