In her own words in 2014 Kathleen wrote, “I hope people will remember me as being kind and loving, having a positive, affirmative outlook on people and happenings. And, I hope my life will show that I tried to foster the loving stance on all social justice issues.”
Kathleen Ann Huberty, the daughter of Joseph and Marie (Broker) Huberty, was born on January 10, 1945, in Tracy, Minnesota. Kathleen excelled in all her studies since childhood. She became an excellent writer, and a fine musician throughout her lifetime. She graduated from the College of St. Teresa in 1967 with a BA degree in English. Subsequently she taught middle school students for three years. From 1971-1996, Kathleen was employed by various insurance and financial firms on the east coast and in the Twin Cities. While employed, she continued her education through the Wharton School of Business to become a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist. In that capacity, she prepared and reviewed over 200 Defined Benefit and Contribution plan terminations. Kathleen remained “super busy” until a good friend of hers suggested she was in the “wrong field.” Thereafter, Kathleen returned to teaching English for the Bloomington Department of Education’s Adult Programs until retirement in 2016. Among the many thank you notes Kathleen received from students, colleagues, and friends, was a handwritten valentine to her that said, “I love you, not only for what you have made of yourself, but for what you are making of me.” Now we know Kathleen’s “hopes” have been realized.
Kathleen is survived by her brothers, Robert (Patsy) Huberty and John (Mary) Huberty; sister, Mary Jane Huberty; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Marie Huberty.
