Katherine C. Rickert, the daughter of Karl and Kathrina (Balzer) Rickert was born on August 1918 on the family farm in Carson Township, Cottonwood County, MN. She was raised on the family farm NW of Mountain Lake, MN, where she received her educaton at District 80 E Country School. Katie was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake, where she remained a life long member. She worked on the farm gardening and later worked at Butterfield Foods. In the fall of 1984 she and her sister Amanda moved into Mountain Lake and continued working at the Produce. On July 10, 2006 she moved to the Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake. Katie died on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Village. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Anne Hoppe, Minnie Olson and Amanda Rickert; and four brothers, Carl Pete, Fred, Henry and Walter Rickert. Katie is survived by two sisters, Emma Norland of Windom, MN and Esther Janzen of Mountain Lake; a brother, Harold Rickert of Minneapolis, MN; a sister-in-law, Deloris Rickert of Mountain Lake; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake, MN or Good Samaritan Village in Mountain Lake.
