Karol Ann Nielsen

Karol A. Nielsen, age 60 of Springfield, Minnesota, died on December 9, 2025, at Sleepy Eye Medical Center. There will be no service at this time. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.

Karol Ann (Riederer), the daughter of Charles and Margaret Riederer, was born on February 27, 1965, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. The middle child of seven, Karol attended school and graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School in Sleepy Eye. Following graduation, Karol worked for many years as a nursing assistant in various nursing homes and in-home care in the area. She also worked in housekeeping at Orchid Inn in Sleepy Eye which is where she met the love of her life, Roy Nielsen. They were blessed with 21 years of marriage. They resided in Sleepy Eye for a few years before moving to Springfield where they lived for the past 17 years.

Karol had a great sense of humor and enjoyed lovingly nagging Roy whenever she could. Those who loved her know she was all heart and she will be missed beyond measure.

Karol is survived by her husband and best friend, Roy Nielsen of Springfield; children, Justin, Kyle, and Lance; stepchildren, Roy Jr. and Michael; 15 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Kay, Kelly, Karen, and Kim; brothers, Charles Jr. and Keith; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and stepchildren, Daniel and Yvonne.
