Julia Brown

Julia Jules Ann Brown was born on March 25, 1957 in Springfield, MN to Wayne Diane (Turbes) Kastner. She graduated in 1975 from Sanborn High School. She was united in marriage to Steve Brown at Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn in 1975 and later divorced in 2001. She was a member of the Sanborn Swinger Softball Team, Women of Today and served as a District Director and Chapter President for the Sanborn area. Julie was a member of Relay For Life for 8 years and this year was Honorary Chair Speaker. She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Choir since they moved to Sleepy Eye in 1991. She loved the fall time of year, taking care of her flowers, collecting bird houses and snowmen, trucking with Bruce and spending time with her children, grandchildren, relatives and friends. She was employed for the last eight years at the Sleepy Eye Medical Center and also worked part time at Schweiss Meats. Julie's journey with cancer began on Friday, July 13, 2007. The outcome of several tests in Rochester resulted in finding a rare cancer called Bile Duct. Surgery and radiation were not an option so she began chemotherapy on Aug. 13, 2007. Julie is survived by her parents, Wayne Diane Kastner of Sanborn, fiance, Bruce Sellner of New Ulm; four children, Shadly Brown of Sleepy Eye, Tanya Brown of Mankato, Christopher Brown of Sleepy Eye, Stacie Brown of Willmar; eight grandchildren, Blake Tauer, Desire' and Taylor Friton, Tiffani Trebesch, Vanessa Sampson, Andrew Brown, Gregory Johnson, III. and Alexander Johnson; four sisters, Jody (Steve) Lyle of Fairmont, Joan Kelly of Mankato, Jacalyn Kastner of Mankato, Jolene (Terry) Schenk of Sanborn; three brothers, Joel (Kim) Kastner of Lakeville, James (Tina) Kastner of Miltona, Jay (Kim) Kastner of Springfield and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Adeline and Bernard Turbes.
