Judith Lillian "Judy" Rasmussen age 71, of Madelia, MN died on August 18, 2020, at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN. Service will be held at the United Methodist Church, Madelia, on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 11:00 am, visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. All who attend are asked to wear masks and maintain social distancing guidelines. The clergy will be Rev. Clinton Firstbrook, III. Interment will follow at the Lincoln Cemetery in Madelia. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home, Pilgrim Chapel in Madelia. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com. Judith "Judy" Lillian (Pauley) Rasmussen was born in Madelia, MN on February 11, 1949 to Lawrence and Lillian (Caswell) Pauley. She grew up in Madelia and graduated from Mater Dolorosa (St. Mary's Catholic School) in 1962, and Madelia High School in 1967. After high school, Judy moved to St. Paul to work from 1967-1968, and then attended Mankato State College in 1968. Judy married William "Bill" Rasmussen at St. Mary's Church in Madelia on April 19, 1969. Bill and Judy farmed and raised their three children, Jody, Cheryl, and Butch in rural Madelia. Judy took pride in helping with field work, and other farming chores for many years. She also worked at the Madelia Community Hospital in food service for more than 20 years. She never sat still for long as she was also involved with Girl Scouts, 4-H, church activities, baking all kinds of sweets and making Lefse. Nothing made her happier than to thank someone by delivering them a sweet treat for their troubles. Judy adored her five grandsons, and made it a point to get to sporting, school, and music events for each of them. Judy is survived by her husband of 51 years, William "Bill" Rasmussen, Sr.; children, Jody (Rick) Ragan of Indianola, IA, Cheryl (David) Jacobson of Delano, MN, William "Butch" (April) Rasmussen Jr. of Madelia; 5 grandchildren, Tyler Ragan, Isaac, Daniel, and Caleb Jacobson, Tucker Rasmussen; brother-in-law, Ron Elkins; sister-in-law, Shirley Mae (Keith) Iverson, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Ann Gaworski, Patricia Becker, Catherine Elkins, and Barbara Pauley.
