Judith Ann Berg passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Society in St. James. Judy was born July 31, 1946, in Wells, Minnesota, to Norman and Dorothy Beckmann.

Judy’s greatest joy in life was her family. She took great pride in raising her five children and was a loving and devoted wife to her husband, Raymond, whom she affectionately called “Boyka.” Judy had a generous spirit and a heart for serving others. She was a faithful and active member of WELCA, River Valley, and the Education Committee, sharing her time and talents in many ways at Augustana Lutheran Church.

Judy also cared deeply for her community and volunteered graciously at the Watonwan County Food Shelf alongside Debbie Schmillen, whom she lovingly considered a sister at heart.

Judy is survived by her loving husband, Raymond Berg of St. James; her brother, Dale (Beth) Beckmann of Inver Grove Heights; and her children, Dominique (Laura) Berg of Fairmont, Sandra Berg of St. James, Cameron (Jordan) Berg of St. James, and Jesse Berg of St. James. She was also a proud grandmother to LilyAnn Berg of Fairmont; Adley Lemke (Liz) of Rochester; CoraLee Vicario (Jacob) of St. James; Taylor Berg (Dawn) of St. James, James Berg of St. Paul, Tayler Edeen (Matt) of Mound, Jack Mahoney-Berg of Fairmont, Cadence Berg of St. James, Valour Moore of Mason City, Iowa, Justice Moore of Mankato, and Hayden Moore.

She was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Thomas, Jonathan, and Madelynn Berg of St. James, Scarlett, Wyatt, and Juliett Vicario of St. James, and Analeigh Mahoney-Berg, Colt, and Hunter Edeen of Mound, who brought her tremendous joy.

She is also survived by sisters- and brothers-in-law, Mardele and Dwain Dale, Dianne Berg, Valores Olson, Karen Malakowsky, Cheryl and Dave Karge, and Pam and Steve Ihme, along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Dorothy Beckmann; her in-laws, George Sr. and Helen Berg; her brother, Bruce Beckmann; a sister in infancy; her cherished son, Polo Berg; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Berg; grandson, Hunter Mahoney; daughter-in-law, Wendy Mahoney-Berg; brothers-in-law, George Berg Jr. (Butch), Emil Malakowsky (Junior), and Don Olson; sister-in-law, Florence Berg; and nephew, Tim Beckmann.

A funeral service celebrating Judy’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Augustana Lutheran Church in St. James, with Rev. Mandy France officiating. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m., prior to the service. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in St. James. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in St. James.
