There will be a Parish Prayer Service on Friday at 7:00 PM at the Sturm Funeral Home. Josephine Helen Lang was born on March 12, 1925 in Mulligan Township, Brown County, the daughter of Joseph and Theresa (Schumacher) Fischer. She attended Country School District #42 and graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School in Sleepy Eye in 1943. She attended Teachers Training in New Ulm. On June 7, 1948, she was united in marriage to Philip Lang at the Church of the Japanese Martyrs Church in Leavenworth. The couple farmed east of Springfield. She was an active member at St. Raphael's Catholic Church where she was involved with the St. Anne's Altar Society. Josephine was a 4-H leader for 24 years and enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and knitting. Josephine died on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at the Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park at the age of 84 years. She is survived by her children - Mary (Mark) Jantzer of Minot, ND, Lucy Lang (Jack Mayala) of Kimball, MN, Joan (Brian) Bertram of Woodbury, MN, Jane Lang of Minnetonka, MN, Philip Jr. (Liz) Lang of Maple Plaine, MN, Peter (Kori) Lang of Springfield, MN, Joseph (Sharon) Lang of Comfrey, MN, Paul (Mary) Lang of Fairview, TN, John (Nancy Larson) Lang of Inver Grove Heights, MN, and Mark Lang of Eden Prairie, MN; 19 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and sister - Dorothy Fischer of Sleepy Eye. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Philip in 1991; brothers - Alfred, John, and Valentine Fischer; and sisters- Sister Myrna Fischer,OSB, Gertrude Hillesheim, Elizabeth Fischer and Teresa Huiras.
