Joseph Roiger

Joseph Peter Roiger was born on May 25, 1937 in Leavenworth Township, Brown County, the son of LeRoy J. and Margaret (Haas) Roiger. On June 18, 1957 he married Delores Ann Miller at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Sanborn, MN. After their marriage, Joe hauled for Murphy Freight and started hauling milk which he did for 35 years. Joe also worked for Fredin Brothers and hauled freight for Napa. After retirement Joe did the thing he liked best. Joe loved being on his farm, raising cattle, fishing, trapping, gardening, and loved his animals - Rex and Tiger (Pouncer). He enjoyed sports, especially NASCAR the Minnesota Twins. Most of all he loved his family and time with his grandchildren. Joe died on Sunday, June 11, 2006 at the Sleepy Eye Medical Center in Sleepy Eye, MN at the age of 69 years. He is survived by his wife - Dee Roiger of Springfield; children - Paul Roiger of Coral Gables, FL, Susan Steffl of Springfield and her fianc Doug Marz, Mark and wife Kate Roiger of Granite Falls, MN, Jon Roiger of Maple Grove, MN and special friend - Tara Olson, and Joseph Jr. and wife Tara Roiger of New Market, MN; grandchildren - Molly Jo Steffl, Shane Thomas Steffl, Victoria Jean Roiger, Morgan Roiger, Emily Ann Roiger, Jacob Roiger, and Allison Nicole Roiger; two sisters - Arlette and husband Ray Heinen of Yankton, SD and Roxanne Bode of Iowa. Joe is preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and two sisters.
