Joseph Mickelson

Joseph Joe A. Mickelson was born on December 23, 1925 in Leavenworth, MN the son of Fred Josephine (Hillesheim) Mickelson. He grew up and attended country school near Leavenworth. Joe married Virginia Jean Pollom on August 27, 1952 in Sleepy Eye, MN. The couple lived and farmed North of Sleepy Eye in Home Township. Joe was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, the KC's and was a active member of AA for 33 years. He enjoyed old time music, dancing, his dog, Toby, playing cards and having coffee. Joseph Joe A. Mickelson, 80, of rural Sleepy Eye, MN died on Friday, October 13, 2006 at Gil-Mor Manor Nursing Home in Morgan, MN. Survivors include his wife Virginia Jean Mickelson of rural Sleepy Eye, children, Tim of New Hope, Jill (Jon) Wellnitz of New Ulm, Scott of rural Sleepy Eye, Kathy (Scott) Ellanson of New Ulm and Dan of Denver, CO, 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, sisters, Ruth Rono of Sleepy Eye, Esther Greenberg of Morgan and Mary (Don) Hacker of Evan. He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother, Frederick, sisters, Rose Reiner and Lucille, infant sister Mona, brothers-in-law, Jim Rono, Alfred Reiner and Lowell Greenberg and a daughter in infancy.
