Joseph Lang

Joseph J. Lang was born to Frank and Cecelia (Vogel) Lang on April 3, 1914 in Northstar Township. Joseph attended school in Northstar Township and helped on the family farm. Joseph married Mildred Schunk on October 10, 1939 at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Springfield. They farmed near New Ulm until 1942, when they moved north of Sanborn until 1964 when they moved to a farm near Wabasso. Joseph moved into Sanborn after the death of Mildred. Joseph became a resident at St. John Lutheran Home in February 2002. He was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Sanborn and a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards especially Sheephead. Joseph died on Friday, December 3, 2004 at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield at the age of 90. He is survived by his children - James and wife Ginny Lang of Sanborn, Joann and husband David Schwartz of Springfield; nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and four step- great grandchildren; brothers - Raymond and wife Mary Lou and Leo and wife Margaret both of Springfield. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mildred in 1983, son Joseph Jr., a brother Frank and two grandchildren.
