John Ben Ysker

John Ben Ysker, age 77, of Mountain Lake, died on December 26, 2024, at Windom Area Health in Windom.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Sturm Funeral Home in Mountain Lake and will continue on Friday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held at Sturm Funeral Home in Mountain Lake on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 11:00 am. The clergy will be Rev. Rick Bremseth. Interment with military honors will be at the Mountain Lake City Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Mountain Lake. John was born February 28, 1947, to Henry and Helen (Teske) Ysker in Mountain Lake. He attended school in Mountain Lake.  John served in the US Army in Vietnam and upon his return he finished out his 20 years of service in the National Guard.

On September 11, 1966, John married Connie Rosa. Together, they raised three children, Fabian, Tanya, and Andrew. Connie died October 30, 2004.

John worked for Toro for 25 years and later retired from Butterfield Foods. He was a member of the Mountain Lake Legion and Butterfield VFW, volunteered with the Threshing Bee in Butterfield, and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mountain Lake. In his free time, John enjoyed fishing, mowing his lawn, snow blowing, tinkering, watching westerns, and visiting with family and friends.

John is survived by his children, Tanya (Jerry) Rathman of Sherburn and Andrew (Missy Henry) Ysker of Mountain Lake; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Scott and Connie VanDuker; brother, Ernest (Sharon) Ysker; sister-in-law, Loretta Ysker; and several nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Connie; son, Fabian; brother, Henry; mother-in-law, Luella Rosa, brother-in-law, Don Scott; step-mother, Velda Ysker; and step-father, Clarence Falk.
