John J. Regier was born on January 29, 1931 to Rev. David and Barbara (Epp) Regier in Mountain Lake, Minn. He grew up in Mountain Lake and graduated from Mountain Lake High School in 1949. John served 2 years under the 1-W service during the Korean War. He attended Moody Bible Institute and the University of MN. After his father's death in 1956, John left school and moved to rural Mountain Lake to take over the family farm with his brother, Arnold. The two brothers worked together for many years. He was united in marriage to Edna Buller on June 13, 1969. They were blessed with two sons, John and James. John sang with the Round Table Singers and Joyful Ministries for many years. He was a lifelong member of the Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Church, which is now Cornerstone Bible Church. He was a long time usher in the church. John accepted Christ as his personal Savior at a very young age. His father baptized him upon the confession of his faith in Jesus Christ as an adult. John enjoyed farming and spending time in his garden raising vegetables, flowers and hostas. He also enjoyed meat canning for the MCC. John sold seed corn to friends and neighbors but enjoyed the visiting more than the sale. John was always happy to spend time with his 9 grandchildren, teaching them life lessons on the farm, as well as the fine art of loading hogs. He prayed for his grandchildren every day, up to the end. We will miss him terribly but are assured we will see him again in heaven where he is no longer in pain and suffering. We are so happy that he can finally have his cold glass of water and eternal life, the two things he longed for. John is survived by his wife, Edna Regier; sons, John (Amy) Regier and James (Sherry) Regier, all of Mountain Lake; 9 grandchildren, Madelyn, Nathan, Thomas, Annelise, Grant, David, Walker, Race and Jett, all of Mountain Lake; sisters, Elfrieda (Mel) Loewen of Goshen, IN, Mary Ann Regier of Nappanee, IN; brother, Milton (Lenora) Regier of Glen Ellyn, IL, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, R.A. (Gertrude and Oralue) Regier, Elmer (Gloria) Regier, Arnold Regier; sister, Evelyn (Lynn) Eifeldt; 1 niece and several nephews.
