John Nasman died at his farm on Monday, September 13, 2010. John James Nasman was born December 2, 1927, on the family farm in Riverdale Township, Watonwan County, Minnesota, to parents George Esther (Peterson) Nasman. John was Baptized and Confirmed at East Sveadahl Lutheran Church. He attended District 16 rural school through the eighth grade. He served in the US Army from 1952 to 1953 and was stationed at Okinawa. John farmed his entire life. He enjoyed feeding the wildlife during the winter, enjoyed fishing, hunting deer, pheasant and ducks. He loved his fishing trip each year to the Lake of the Woods. John was a member of the Madelia American Legion and East Sveadahl Lutheran Church. He loved driving his Model T Ford in local parades and attending the Butterfield Threshing Bee. John was a award winning hand corn husker winning contests on the County and State level and participating at the National level. John loved to visit with family, friends and neighbors. John was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Vivian, Celeste, Dorothy, Florence and brother Winton. He is survived by his brother, Clarence (Jeannette) Nasman of St. James, nieces nephews, Barbara (Curt) Orstad of Mora, Allan (Carol) Jensen of Aitkin, Noel (Pam) Jensen of Sturgeon Lake, Ovid (Linda) Jensen of Askov, Twyla (Brent) Bublitz of Grantsburg, WI, Curtis (Evelyn) Sorensen of Paynesville, Ramona (Jim) Aumann of Ripon, WI, Kira (Roger) Schmitz of Zimmerman, June (Roger) Bengtson of Blaine, Joyce (Bill) Nerdahl of Underwood, Dawn (Michael) Maack of Frenchtown, MT, Paul Spitzer of Dent, Jim Nasman of Madelia , George Nasman of St. James and his fiance Maureen Lubben, several cousins and his dog Brandy.
