John Husby

John was born March 5, 1922 at Nevis, MN, to parents John and Margot (Mielke) Husby. He grew up in the Nevis area where he graduated from high school. John attended 1 year of Business College in Bemidji before serving in the Army from 1942 to 1946. Upon completion of his military service, John attended the University of Minnesota where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Vo-Ag. He then taught Vo-Ag for 2 years at Henning, MN, and then 3 years at Renville, MN. On June 6, 1953, John was united in marriage to Shirley Christopherson at Clitherall, MN. In 1955, John went to work for the Federal Land Bank in Appleton, MN. In 1966, John became President of the Federal Land Bank in St. James, a position he held until his retirement in 1985. John was active in his church and many community affairs. He was a member of the 3 penny coffee club and enjoyed music, reading, history and traveling. John also loved to tend his garden and rose bushes. John Husby passed away on Monday, February 26, 2007, at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James at the age of 84 years. John was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 4 sisters. Grateful for having shared in his life is his wife Shirley Husby of St. James, children Jeffrey Husby of Mankato, Marsha (Steve) Olson of St. James, Bradley (Brenda) Husby of St. James, Kevin Husby of Minneapolis, grandchildren Brandon (Nicole) Olson and their daughter Peyton of Burnsville, Brett (Stacy) Olson of Golden Valley, Kyle Olson of Winona, John Husby of St. James and Kaye Husby of St. James.
