JoAnn Petersen-DeYoung, age 80, of Edgar, Wisconsin formerly of St. James, died on Sunday, July 17, 2011, at the Colonial Center Nursing Home in Colby, WI. JoAnn was born Lila Mae Chapman on September 17, 1930, at Cloquet, MN. She was adopted at age 9 by Royce and Viola (Madsen) Keyes and her name was then changed to JoAnn Yvonne Keyes. She graduated from Sleepy Eye High School in 1950. She married Douglas Petersen on October 20, 1951 at the Methodist Church in Sleepy Eye. The couple made their home in Litchfield where they farmed for nine years. Moving to St. James they continued to farm until their retirement. JoAnn married Peter Bud DeYoung April 6, 2008 at the First Reform Church in Oak Harbor, WA. They made their home in Edgar, WI, and Mesa, AZ. JoAnn worked in the bank while in Sleepy Eye, did babysitting for 25 years, loved to cook dinners and entertain. She taught Sunday School and confirmation, was a member of the prayer chain and funeral committee at Augustana Lutheran Church, she also belonged to the befriender ministries, Hospice and WELCA. JoAnn's greatest pleasure was spending time with her children and grandchildren, other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her first husband Douglas in 2004, son David, son and daughter-in-law Mike Jodi, grandson Kavan Enstad, parents Royce and Viola, and brother Dennis Chapman. She is survived by her husband Peter Bud DeYoung of Edgar, WI, son Mark (Connie) Petersen of St. James, daughter Diane (Keith) Enstad of Hutchinson, brother Allen (Barbara) Sukau of Lakefield, sister Gloria Mouw of Coupville, WA, grandchildren Kory (Melissa) Enstad, Emma, Jory Nicholas Petersen, and great-grandchild Kaden Enstad.
