Joan Janet Sargent, age 84, of Mountain Lake, peacefully ascended to her heavenly home on January 8, 2025, at her home

Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Center Point Church in Mountain Lake. Funeral Service will be held at Center Point Church on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 1:00 pm. Interment will be at the Mountain Lake City Cemetery. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Mountain Lake. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.

Joan Janet Kvanli was born April 14, 1940, to Arvid and Vera (Angrimson) Kvanli in Montevideo, Minnesota. She attended and graduated from Montevideo High School. On November 16, 1958, she married Richard Earl Sargent at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Together, they raised three children, Debbie, Tami, and Troy.

Joan was a consultant for Vivian Woodard for many years. She also worked in Windom at the school helping handicapped children. She enjoyed drawing, making handmade Christmas and birthday cards for family and friends, cooking, baking, caring for her family, and most of all, Joan loved to tell all of her faith. She was a true light to many, just a colander of love of Jesus! The legacy of her faith is the greatest gift she left with her family and friends.

Joan is survived by her children, Deb (Jim) Warwick of Butterfield, Tami (Brad) Freitag of Mountain Lake and Troy Sargent of Mountain Lake; grandchildren, Chasity (Jamin) Fast, Chantel Anderson, Lacy (Nick Jones) Freitag, Jacob (Megan) Freitag, Bailey ( fiancé, Travis Meadows) Freitag, Carissa Sargent, Cody (Kiely) Sargent, and Jada Sargent; 23 great-grandchildren, 8 great great-grandchildren; brother, Lee (Marilyn) Kvanli; and sister, Cheryl (Darin) Hatledt.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Brian; husband, Richard in 2018; granddaughter, Sadie; great-granddaughter, Avery; and grandson-in-law, Chad Anderson.
