Joan Richert

Visitation has been moved to the Springfield Community Center. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 25, 2021 from 4:00-7:00 pm. Joan Mary Richert was born to Rudolph and Lucille (Hornick) Sellner on August 15, 1936 in Brown County, MN. Joan graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School in Sleepy Eye. On May 26, 1956, Joan was united in marriage to Donald Richert at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. Joan and Donald raised their family of 7 children on the farm near Cobden, MN. She was a member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church where she served as the treasurer of the CCW. Joan also was a member of the extension committee, was a 4-H Leader for 25 years, state director for Pork Producers, and served on the 4-H Committee for University of Minnesota. She enjoyed spending time with her family, painting, reading, crafting, and sewing. Joan died on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye, MN, at the age of 84. Surviving Joan are her children - Mike and wife Kaye (Kolkmeyer) children - Jaime - daughter Jordyn; and William and wife Viktoria - children Benjamin, Lucas, Fredrik, and Hannah. Cindy Johnson children - Joseph and wife Hannah - children Sterling and Mircea; Michael's daughter Maddy; Anne and husband Jason Veldhuis. Sue Wood - children - Steven children Gracelyn, Olivia, Sawyer, and Everly; Sarah and husband Joel Vint and children Kella, Judson, and Karis; Brian; and Matthew and wife Brooke. Mary and husband Tom Portner children - Boston, Sabrina, Isabella, Crystal, and Sophia. Barb and husband Todd Egenes children - Nicole and husband Adam Klinkner sons Elijah and Caleb; Kristin and husband Tanner Koep; Megan and Kayla. Brian and wife Fawne (Rankin) children - Jacob and Morgan. Chris and wife Sally (Anderson) children - Samantha; Noah and wife Maddie daughter Paisley; and Logan. Also surviving Joan are her brothers - James (Val) Sellner and Dennis (Elaine) Sellner. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, brothers - Chuck and Ron Sellner, granddaughter Emily, and grandson Michael.
