Joan Ann Humphrey

Joan Ann (Hoffmann) Humphrey was born March 5, 1940, to Max J. and Adeline (Seehusen) Hoffmann in Granite Falls, MN. She was baptized into the Catholic faith in Renville, MN and confirmed at St. Mary's Church in Worthington, MN. Joan attended grade school at St. Mary's School in Worthington, junior high in Tracy, MN and graduated from St. James High School in 1958. She attended St. Mary's School of Nursing in Rochester, MN and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1961. Her nursing experiences include cardiac surgery at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester for almost 10 years. She then moved to Jackson, MS where she worked in cardiac surgery and later in hospice care. Joan was married to Ronald Humphrey on May 23, 1981 at the St. James Catholic Church. The couple resided in Jackson until Ron's death in 2005. Joan then moved back to St. James where she was active in church activities including the Catholic Daughters, assisting with funeral luncheons, and doing the housekeeping at the rectory. Her love for animals, especially cats, brought her to volunteering at the Watonwan County Humane Society for many years. Joan Ann Humphrey died Sunday, October 15, 2017, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her mother Adeline; siblings- Karen (Dick) Meyer of Bloomington, Maxine (Jerry) Howe of Gibbon, Mary (Roger) Collins of Stoughton, WI, Max 'John' (Diane) Hoffmann of St. James, Michael (Jolene) Hoffmann of Avon, Patricia (Dr. Randall) Gall of West Salem, WI, and Ruth (Larry) Mikkelson of Hanska; step-sons- Jason Humphrey and Daniel Miller who live near Jackson, MS; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father; husband; infant nephew; grandparents; and aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorials preferred to St. James Catholic Church Memorial Masses.
