Jessie Durheim

Jessie Arlene Wright was born June 17, 1917 the daughter of John D. and Maren (Froslan) Wright on the family farm in Rosendale Township near Bullhead Lake. She attended St. James Public Schools. She married Raymond Durheim on May 2, 1937. They worked for numerous farmers and then moved to a farm by rural Lewisville and in July of 1977 to St. James. She enjoyed being a farmer's wife and then went to work for the Senior Nutrition Site in service to her community from 1980 to 1999. She received the Watonwan County Outstanding Senior Citizen award in 1989, served on church council, head of the funeral committee, and the senior advisory council. She was a life-time member of First Lutheran Church, extension club, and member of St. James Garden Club. Jessie was very proud of her family and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking and baking for family functions and Wright family gatherings. She liked to knit coverings for hangers, dish rags for her children and grandchildren and friends. She enjoyed Sunday afternoons with her sisters and friends. Jessie was preceded in death by her husband Raymond in 1978, grandson-in-law Gordon Kari in 2002, parents, brothers and sisters-in-law Ervin Evelyn Wright, Donald Wright, Philip Betty Wright, Calvin Dolores Wright, Lyle Harriet Wright, sisters and brothers-in-law Alice Dick Fastenau, Hazel Elmer Nelson, May Dick Gruis, Myrtle Ervin Nelson, Olive Joseph Babolian, Fern Stanley Nelson. She is survived by her children and their spouses Lavern Butch Erma Durheim of Long Prairie, Donna Vernon Kuehnhold of Denison, IA, Douglas Diane Durheim of Lafayette, Delvin Debra Durheim of Long Prairie, Duane Doc Jeanni Durheim of St. James, Debra Gary Range of Apple Valley, sister Carol (Merton) Rettke of Odin and sister-in-law Marie Wright of Phoenix, AZ, 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
