Jerry Edward Haberman

Jerry Edward Haberman age 72, of Mountain Lake, MN died on October 9, 2024, at Windom Area Hospital.


Visitation will be on Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Sturm Funeral Home, Mountain Lake Chapel.


A private family service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church-Mt Lake, on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 2:00 pm.


The clergy will be Rev. David Lick. Interment will be at the Mountain Lake City Cemetery following the service.


Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life at the Mountain Lake Golf Course on Friday October 18 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Jerry Edward Haberman was born on October 28, 1951 to Luverne and Margaret (Haworth) Haberman in Windom, MN.  He was raised on a farm west of Windom, attended String Lakes country school and was a graduate of Windom High School.  He attended the Vo-Tech Diesel program in Alexandria and, in June 1971, was employed at Ewert-McDonald Co. in Mountain Lake.   Jerry started farming 1 mile west of Mountain Lake in 1976.  He married Jean Janzen on August 26, 1986.  In 1998, Jerry purchased Midway Farm Equipment along with 3 partners, where he worked until his retirement in 2022. He farmed in partnership with his sons, Shannon Haberman and Mike Haberman.

Jerry was involved in Mountain Lake Jaycees, the Mountain Lake Public Library Board, Mountain Lake EDA and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.  In his free time, he enjoyed golf, collecting and restoring Allis-Chalmers tractors, reading and watching old westerns.  Jerry also loved to attend high school sporting events, never missing a chance to cheer on his grandchildren or watch his grandson at tractor pulls.


Jerry is survived by his wife, Jean Haberman; children, Shannon Haberman, Jared (Jill) Brandt, Mike (special friend Rochelle Hanson) Haberman; grandchildren, Kaleb, Kyle, Kaden and Kole Haberman, Jacob, Drew Brandt, Catalina De la Cruz; sisters, Joan (Jerry) Schafer, Jean Hoppe, Jackie (Terry) Jurgens, sister-in-law, Donna Lindstrom and brother-in-law, Paul Janzen.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Luverne and Margaret Haberman; parents-in-law, George and Shirley Janzen and brother-in-law, Don Hoppe.


In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Mountain Lake Food Shelf.
