Jerry Richard Gay

March 17, 1941 — July 31, 2024

Jerry Richard Gay, age 83, of Saint James, died on July 31, 2024, at the Olivia Restorative Therapy and Nursing Home in Olivia, Minnesota.


A memorial service will be held at First Lutheran Church in Saint James on Monday, August 12, 2024, at 11:00 am. with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Saint James. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Saint James. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com.


Jerry was born March 17, 1941, to Richard and Olive (Holland) Gay in Saint James. He graduated from Saint James High School in 1959, and then attended Vocational Technical College in Mankato. On June 10, 1961, he married Cynthia Stamp. Together they raised three children, Todd, Paula, and Chris.


Jerry worked for South Central Electric as a lineman and electric superintendent. In his free time, he enjoyed annual motorcycle trips out west, fishing, hunting, and attending his grandchildren's activities and school events.


Jerry is survived by his children, Todd (Sandra) Gay of Bird Island, Minnesota and Chris (Christopher) Damstrom of Dexter, Iowa; son-in-law, Pat Waldron of Adel, Iowa; grandchildren, Jacob (Isabel), Alex (Britt), Sadie, Seth (Kadyn Hunt), and CJ; great grandchildren, Thea, Avi, Rome, and Banks; and niece and nephew, Heidi VanLith and Jay Gay.


Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cynthia; daughter, Paula Waldron; and brother, Jim.
