Jerry L. Evers was born December 12, 1942, in Selma Township, the son of Henry and Ruth (Newberg) Evers. Following high school, Jerry entered the National Guard and served until 1968. Jerry was united in marriage to Janice Green on July 14, 1962 at the Christian Reformed Church in rural Mountain Lake. Jerry had a life of entrepreneurship and worked various jobs as a loan officer, in banking and insurance, and raising livestock. He served on the Comfrey School Board for several terms. In 1982, Jerry started County Line Feed and Seed which became County Line Feed and Grain growing into a multifaceted business. Jerry enjoyed raising livestock and farming. On July 4 he captured pictures of his crops every year. His greatest enjoyment was his grandchildren.
Jerry died on Monday, May 13, 2024, at the Windom Area Hospital at the age of 81.
He is survived by his wife - Janice of Comfrey; children - Tim (Rachel) Evers of Comfrey, Susan Krcil (Mike Stoesz) of Mountain Lake, and Jill (Jeff) Veerkamp of Comfrey; grandchildren - Andy (Dakotah) Evers, Jessica (Cody) Madsen, Tyler (Lacey) Evers, Tate Krcil (Hannah VanPelt), Keirstyn Krcil, Erin Veerkamp, Adam Veerkamp, and Owen Veerkamp; 7 great grandchildren; siblings - Jim Evers, Donald (Karen) Evers, Darold (Mary) Evers, and Phyllis (Allen) Hulzebos; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Paul, and brothers and sisters-in-law.
