Jerome Jakobe

A rosary will be said at 4pm on Thursday at the funeral home. Jerry Jakobe, age 69, of St. James died on Monday, December 15, 2008 at the St. James Medical Center in St. James. Jerome Carl Jakobe was born in Mankato, MN, on April 4, 1939 to parents Carl Alveretta (Miller) Jakobe. Jerry grew up in St. James where he graduated high school in 1957. He them attened St. Thomas College graduating in 1961. Upon returning to St. James he operated St. James Lumber Company until his retirement in 1984. Jerry loved to bow hunt and spent winters in Hawaii. He was a member of the St. James Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and Eagles Club. He is survived by his children Gina (Paul) Fischer of Sartell, Kim Barnell and friend Ray of Dallas, TX, and Kevin Jakobe and friend Tacy of Johnston, IA, and sister Sharon (Clifford) Knickrehm of St. James, grandchildren Danielle Schultz, Bradley Barnell, Michael Barnell and Karlee Jakobe. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and grandsons Dustin Schultz and Branden Barnell.
