Jennifer R. Rempel, 50, Mountain Lake, MN died on Thursday, October 06, 2011 at her home under the care of Hospice. Jennifer Rose Rempel was born on November 13, 1960 in Milaca, MN to Martyn and Gretchen (Mudgett) Carlson. She spent her childhood living on a farm near Milaca, where she spent most of her time outdoors with her siblings. She graduated from Milaca High School in 1979, and went on to get a degree in nursing from the St. Cloud School of Nursing. Jennifer moved to Comfrey, MN where she accepted her first nursing position at the Comfrey Hospital. It was through her supervisor there that she was first introduced to Jesus. She gave her life to Christ when she was 23 years old. Jennifer attended Carson Mennonite Church in Delft, MN, through which she met Calvin Rempel, who she married on August 25th, 1984. Calvin and Jennifer made their home on a farm northwest of Mountain Lake where they had three children - Allyson in 1986, Andrew in 1987, and Austin in 1989. Jennifer enjoyed being a stay at home mom for 11 years. She went back to work in 1997, at St. Johns Lutheran Home in Springfield, MN, where she enjoyed nearly14 years of working overnights. Jennifer was very involved at the Alliance Church in Mountain Lake, where she faithfully attended with her family. She painted the Noah's Ark Room, began coffee hour, coordinated the Prayer Pal ministry for women, and was always willing to lend a hand. Jennifer was also very involved with Wild Women, a women's spiritual adventure in Montana, each summer. Jennifer was a nature enthusiast to the core and enjoyed bringing people closer to God. Jennifer was first diagnosed with Leiomyosarcoma on October 13, 2010, when she had surgery to remove fibroids. Jennifer underwent one round of chemo, a second surgery, and was cancer free through August 2011. It was discovered that Jennifer's cancer had returned on September 23. Jennifer was hospitalized with severe pain the next day and returned home on September 26 with hospice care. Jennifer passed away peacefully on October 6, 2011, surrounded by family. Wife, mother, sister, cousin, niece, aunt, artist, friend, nurse, servant - Jennifer will be dearly missed in many ways by many people. Jennifer was preceded in death by her oldest brother Randall, and parents Martyn and Gretchen Carlson. Jennifer is survived by her husband Calvin of Mt. Lake; children Allyson of St. Paul, MN, Andrew of Mt. Lake, and Austin of Mt. Lake; and siblings Tom (Lynn) of Milaca, MN, Richard (Bonnie) of Rush City, MN, Marc (Margaret) of Cambridge, MN, Scott (Shelly) of Shafer, MN, Jeff of Milaca, MN, Matt (Sarah) of Ogilvie, MN, Robert of Milaca, MN, and Meri Riedl (Allen) of Princeton, MN.
