Jeffrey Ross Cook was born on April 2, 1958 in Sleepy Eye, MN, the son of Wilfred Marie (Mathiowetz) Cook. He grew up in Sleepy Eye and graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1976. He attended the Univ. of Wisconsin in Madison and received an Associate Degree from Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs were he led the Reivers to a 4th place finish in the nat'l. Junior College Athletic Assoc. World Series. Jeff also attended the Univ. of New Orleans where he played Division 1 Baseball. He graduated from Mankato State with a degree in accounting. Jeff married Jane Moran on August 7, 1981 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. The couple made their home in Sleepy Eye where Jeff worked for Mathiowetz Construction and then with UPS until he was disabled in 2003. He was the assistant baseball coach at St. Mary's High School from 2001 - 2006, during that period the team was state champions in 2002, 2004 2006. He played and coached Leavenworth Baseball and coached St. Mary's Elementary and Jr. High Basketball. Jeff was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, the KC's, Leavenworth Baseball Board, MN Amatuer Baseball hall of Fame and was MN State High School Assistant Coach of the Year. Jeff also played coached on several teams in the Sleepy Eye Leavenworth area over the years. He is survived by his wife, Jane, sons, Andy, Billy John, all of Sleepy Eye, mother, Marie Cook of Sleepy Eye, siblings, Wayne (Margaret) Cook of Redwood Falls, Warren (Lynn) Cook of Sleepy Eye, Jeanne (David) Burns of Littleton, CO, Jacque (Wayne) Novotny of Sleepy Eye, Steve Cook of Sleepy Eye, sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathy (Chuck) Spaeth of Sleepy Eye, Bill (Judy) Moran of Minnetonka, Sheila LaPlant of Grand Rapids, MN, Mary Beth (George) Heim of Burnsville and mother-in-law, Sylvia Moran of Sleepy Eye and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Wilfred Cook, father-in-law, Moe Moran, brother-in-law, Marcus LaPlant and step father-in-law, Leo Lehar.
