Jean Sandmeyer

Phyllis-Jean Wilke, the daughter of Walter Bud and Dolores (Wickler) Wilke was born on May 16, 1937, at Blue Earth, MN. Jean was baptized on July 4, 1937 and confirmed on May 13, 1951, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Blue Earth. At the age of 13, she moved with her family to Estherville, IA, and then to Truman, MN in the '50's. In 1957, the family moved again to Mapleton, MN, where she lived until her marriage to Alvin Sandmeyer on October 17, 1959. The couple made their home in St. James, MN their entire married life. She truly loved and took great pride in her flower garden, baking and cooking, shopping, watching news and the Food Network on TV, and spoiling her grandchildren. Jean died of lung cancer on Sunday afternoon, August 28, 2005, at her home in St. James, MN, with many family and friends at her side. Jean is survived by her husband, Alvin Sandmeyer of St. James, MN; a daughter, Kristine and her husband Michael Nett of Rochester, MN; two grandchildren, Natasha Nett and Alex Nett of Rochester, MN; two brothers, David Wilke of Fairmont, MN and his friend, Korene Crosser of Titonka, IA, and Donald Wilke and his friend Barb Douglas of Crestwood, KY; a sister, Rolene and her husband Jim Hasher of Weiser, ID; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Norman Haugen; and two sisters, Kathy Wilke and Donna Marie Wilke.
