James Wells, age 65 of Springfield, died Thursday, May 10, 2007, at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, May 14, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, May 13 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and Monday, May 14 from 7:30-8:30 a.m. at Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, and will continue for one hour prior to services at the church. There will be a Parish Prayer Service on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Con-celebrants are Father Dennis Labat and Father Ed Ardolf. Condolences may be sent via e-mail to www.sturmfh.com. Arrangements are with Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield. James Lowell Wells was born October 20, 1941, in Redwood Falls, MN, the son of Raymond and Selma (Benson) Wells. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Goltz on September 2, 1961, in Tracy, MN. James did farm tiling with his brother Dermont for 30 years, and then worked for Mathiowetz Construction for 10 years. Due to health reasons, he retired early to spend time with his grandchildren, to fish in the summer and winter, and to enjoy having coffee with his buddies at Ruby's Cafe. James also enjoyed trapping and was well-known for being a handy man and mechanic around the house. James Lowell Wells died Thursday, May 10, 2007, at his home in Springfield surrounded by his family at the age of 65 years. He is survived by wife- Dorothy of Springfield; children- Dean and wife Nancy of New Hope, Todd and wife Joy of Springfield, and Joan and special friend Tim Kunselman of Slayton; 9 grandchildren; brother- Dermont and wife Bonnie Wells of Springfield; sisters- Janice and husband Andy DeBlieck of California and Vicki and husband Dick Ourada of Walnut Grove; and brother-in-law- Tim Monahan of Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents- Raymond and Selma; brother- Roger; sister- Joyce Monahan; and granddaughter- Lexi, daughter of Dean and Nancy.
