James Peterson

He was born September 19, 1924 in Sleepy Eye to Nels and Christina (Hansen) Peterson. Jim graduated from Morgan High School in 1942. He married Norma Olson on February 16, 1950 at Albion Lutheran Church in Albin Twp. He farmed in Brookville twp., Redwood County. In retirement, he married second wife, Melva Young on February 19, 1994 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye. After many years of living in their country home, Jim and Melva moved into the town of Sleepy Eye in 2007. Jim was an active member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church of Evan and served on the Brookville township board for many years. He enjoyed farming, antique tractors, and working on his landscaping. He loved socializing, dancing, and spending time with his family. James Jim R. Peterson, age 84, of Sleepy Eye, MN died on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at Sleepy Eye Care Center. Surviving Jim is wife-Melva Young Peterson, son-DuWayne and wife Shannon Peterson, grandchildren Sam Nicholas Peterson, daughter-in-law-Susan (Peterson) and husband Leon Hoffmann; grandchildren-Jodi and husband Brooks Marti Robert Peterson, step-children Nancy and Gordy Ericson, Terry Young, Linda and Dwight Sorensen, Joel and Julie Young, Jon Young, step-grandchildren Matt, Sara, Ben, Jill, Geoff, Kara, Andy, Alecs, Sophie, five great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Ramona Peterson of Sleepy Eye and neices and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his wife-Norma, son-Dennis, granddaughter-Abigale, brothers, Roland (Marian), Sidney (Irene) and Elton.
