James Paul Larson was born on November 22nd, 1941 to Paul and Edna (Duffy) Larson. He attended Rosendale Country School, District 13, and Saint James High School, graduating in 1960. In 1960 he took over running the family farm in Rosendale township after the untimely early passing of his father, Paul. At age 17, along with his uncle, Harry Larson, Jim started his career of crop and livestock farming, lasting until 1993 when health conditions encouraged him to retire. On December 28th, 1968 he married Lynn Rae Elvin of St. James. They would have celebrated 48 years of marriage at the end of this month. Jim loved farming and was especially fond of the purebred black angus cattle he raised. He took great pride in selective breeding and careful choosing of bulls and females to grow the herd. In his earlier years and through mid-life he was an avid hunter and trapper and really enjoyed competitive archery shooting at the range south of St. James with friends and family. In the later years, his life revolved around his seven grandchildren. He was an amazing grandpa and spent time with all of them regularly and they helped him look forward and be positive considering all of his health concerns. James Paul Larson passed away on Wednesday, December 7th, 2016 with his family at his side. He had just turned 75. Jim is survived by: his wife Lynn Larson of St. James, son Chad and wife Brandie Larson of St. James, son Ryan and wife Heather Larson of Madelia, seven Grandchilderen (Trinity, Braeden, Brooke, Allison, Jackson, Paige, and Karson), sister Deloris Madison of St. James, sister-in-law Gloria (Larson) and husband Mike Sweeney of Soldotna Alaska, sister-in-law Vicki Johnson of St. James, sister-in-law Jan and husband Rod Dauer of Huchinson, brother-in-law Jim Elvin and wife Tracy of Dewey Oklahoma, and several nieces and nephews, and cousins.
