James Harlan Ewert, known by his friends as Spike, was born August 14, 1927 in Mountain Lake, MN the son of David and Alvina (Steinle) Ewert. Spike graduated from St. James High School. He married Lois Miller on June 8, 1952, she preceded him in death in December 2006. Spike worked as a machinist at ST Industries for many years. Spike loved sports, especially baseball and softball. He spent years playing, umpiring, scorekeeping, and watching. Spike loved dancing and he and Lois spent many nights and weekends doing just that. He was a hard worker and took pride in his home and yard. Spike became a big part of the daily noon dinner group at the community building and he loved his McDonald's family.
