James Stuart Derickson was born on August 31, 1930 to Alvin and Myrtle (Mattison) Derickson in Highwater Township, Cottonwood County. On August 22, 1954, James was united in marriage to Ella Klingenberg at the United Methodist Church in Morgan. James' passion and enjoyment was farming. His hobby was farming. His life was farming. James and Ella were members of the Storden Boots and Bows Square Dance Club and enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, Norway, and Australia. He was a member of Highwater Lutheran Church in rural Lamberton where he served on the church council. James served on the Highwater Township board for over 30 years, Lamberton Elevator board, and Southwest Regional Development Committee. James died on Monday, May 9, 2022 at Valley View Manor in Lamberton, MN, at the age of 91. He is survived by his wife Ella of Lamberton; daughter Debra (Leslie Rosenbaum) Derickson of Alexandria, VA and her daughter Rebecca Rosenbaum; son Dennis (Sara) Derickson of Atascadero, CA and children - Dagmar, Sigrid, and Gudrun Derickson; daughter Connie (Glen) Schultz of Waseca and children - Derrick (Brianna) Hannah, Megann, and Jillian Schultz; son Russell (Paula) Derickson of Lamberton and children Joel, Jamie, and Jack Derickson; son John (Brenda) Derickson of Lamberton and children Tyler (Jaylyn), Nick (Yael), Tegan (Sam) Halter, Ethan and Kaylee Derickson; 4+ grandchildren - Oliver Schultz, James and Kennedy Derickson, and Brynlee Halter; and sister-in-law Carolyn (Alvin) Derickson. James was preceded in death by his parents; brothers - Harold, Arnold, and Alvin; and sisters - Ethel Swanson, Ellen Schmitz, and Dorothy Muyres.
