James Winston Churchill was born March 5, 1933, in Lamberton Township, Redwood County, the son of Henry and Anna (Kronback) Churchill. He attended school in Revere before graduating from Lamberton High School in 1951. Jim enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1955 and served his country until 1957. He was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Yungerberg on April 26, 1958, at Salem Lutheran Church in Comfrey. Jim was a lifelong resident of Revere, a member of Andrew Peterson American Legion Post #41, and Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lamberton. In his spare time, he was an avid bird watcher and feeder, and enjoyed visiting with the hunters during the season. James Winston Churchill died Sunday, July 12, 2009, at Valley View Manor in Lamberton at the age of 76 years. He is survived by wife Ruth; daughters, Kimberly Ann (Dean) Oelfke of Glencoe, MN, and Vicki Ruth (Kurt) Schenk of Buffalo, MN; grandchildren, Derek Steven Schenk, Tyler Duke Schenk, Jason Robert Oelfke, Zakhary Cole Oelfke, Matthew James Oelfke, and Joshua Paul Oelfke; sister Laura Sogge of Osakis, MN; and brothers, Elmer Churchill of Springfield, MN, Richard Churchill of St. Paul, MN, and Chester (Winifred) Churchill of Lamberton, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Maurice, Vernon, Myron, Lawrence, and Henry, Jr.
