J. John Zwaschka was born January 1, 1911 in Mulligan Township, Brown County, the son of John and Theresa (Helget) Zwaschka. He was united in marriage to Rosalia Mathiowetz on June 14, 1937 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. The couple then returned to John's farm in Adrian Township where he lived the rest of his life. John was proud his well-manicured farm place and how he had planned for its future growth. He especially enjoyed watching the geese, swans and other wildlife that visited the lake on the farm. John was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, the Catholic Aid, and was a former member of the Adrian Township School Board and the Cross-Country Riders. He enjoyed raising horses and showing friends and family his scrapbook, and especially loved driving. J. John Zwaschka died Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at his home near Comfrey at the age of 94 years. Survivors include sons- Kenneth and wife Mary Ann Zwaschka of Des Moines, IA, and Michael and wife Tina Zwaschka of Lewisville, MN; daughters- Marilyn Zwaschka of Comfrey, Diane and husband Ned Arnsdorf of Sanborn, Jeanie Zwaschka of Breezy Point, and Lois Zwaschka of Comfrey; 14 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brother- Alfred 'Bud' Zwaschka of Comfrey; and sisters- Cyrilla Beal of North Mankato, Dolores and husband Ray Mlazgar of Bloomington, MN, and Florence Windschitl of Springfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Rosalia in 2003; brothers- Raymond and Leonard; and sister- Sister Aleda.
